Helping Dad, Part II

Devin likes to help his Daddy whenever duty calls. Daddy wasn't doing any home repairs, so Devin took the day to put together his tool bag.
Once he found his tool bag, he tested it to make sure it stands up to the toughest of challenges.
Now Devin's ready to go next time Daddy does a project around the house.

New Hat

Devin, being very into hats and all things fashion, has created a new look. Soft hats are the new black, says Devin!

Uno

Devin thought the game Uno was supposed to be played by only one person.

Merry Christmas!

We're no longer dreaming of a white Christmas. The snow has been falling all day! What a wonderful way to spend Christmas!

Devin's grandparents (Devin's Daddy's Parents) were able to join us for the festivities. And just like good grandparents, they're doing their best to spoil Devin at every turn.Devin doesn't quite understand presents yet, but he does understand that he's the owner of some shiny new toys - and nothing could be better than that in his eyes.
We're celebrating our dear Savior's birth, while Devin is celebrating good food, good toys, and good family!

Merry Christmas to all! And don't forget the reason for the season!

Just catching up

We've been preparing for Christmas and the arrival of Devin's Grandma and Grandpa. So we haven't gotten around to the blog much. I figured I'd catch up in one big post with lots of random pictures.

We've gotten quite a bit of snow over the past week and are expecting a white Christmas. Devin's new activity is to crawl under the dining chairs. And because we're cooped up inside due to snow, I say whatever makes the kid happy!
Here's just a sequence of shots of Devin throwing balls onto the couch.

Fashionista

After dinner, Devin decided to make himself a bit more comfortable. The kid would have done well in the 80's!

Helping Dad

We had our first big snowfall of the year. Devin wanted to help his daddy with the snowblower.
I'd say he wasn't exactly helpful...
...but boy, did he have fun!

Friends

On Saturday Devin's friends came to play.
So he dressed up in his finest - hat and all. He made sure his friends didn't nap one bit - he wanted to maximize playing time!
And he shared all of his favorite things - even the puppies.

King of the box

Devin is obsessed with standing on boxes - the bigger, the better But if the box is too small, he's willing to sit on it instead

The Video

My sophisticated little boy

Devin's hit every milestone like he should with the exception of one. He didn't even try clapping his first year - much to my chagrin. Most babies clap before they crawl. I don't know why, but they do. Devin did not. He was always fascinated when I clapped, but had no interest in doing it himself. The doctor's not worried, so neither was I. But I always wondered why.
And then last night I found out why. Devin didn't want to clap all wild and crazy like. He saved up his clapping until he could get it just right. Devin claps as though he were some sophisticated old man. he has this quiet, gentle golf-style clap. And he raises his arms, claps at eye level, and does so while puffing out his chest as though he were at the opera. It is the most adorable thing in the world! I'll have to try and get it on video for the world to see.
So Devin taught me yet another lesson. Who cares what all the baby books say - Devin will do his work in his own time!?! And it's truly worth the wait!

Devin's First Fight

Devin got into a fight with a pinecone. The pinecone won. Luckily, Devin doesn't seem to mind too much. Sure, there were a few tears in the beginning (and too much blood for my tastes), but he's happy and running around like it never happened. And just this afternoon he picked up a pinecone - so he must not have any hard feelings!

Ready for anything

Devin has his hat, his milk, his sunglasses, and his popper. He's ready for whatever comes his way!

Christmas Decorations

It's kind of hard to tell in this picture, but the lower half of the tree is missing its bulbs. Devin insists that Santa and Snowman are to be face down. I'm not sure if he's taking the hostage or what.
Devin's Daddy and I prefer them upright.

Step Stool Fun

Devin discovered that his step stool has a hidden compartment.

Hats off to you

I have no idea why the next picture is sideways. I can't seem to rotate it.

1 yr pics

I know I'm a little late to the party, but I thought I'd post the 1 year portraits we had done at Sears (the only photography place in Flag). Devin had just learned to walk and he didn't want to sit still for anything! So we didn't get very many shots. But the ones we did get turned out well enough.

Stern Warning

Sometimes Devin's puppies are too excited to see him and they accidentally knock him over. Devin doesn't like this. So he's taken to giving the puppies a stern warning before we let them out of their pen.

Bucket

Devin has fallen in love with his Daddy's watering bucket. He carries it all around the outside of the house. The only thing that distracts him from carrying his bucket is dirt. Just wait until he learns he can put dirt in his bucket and carry it around!

Happy Thanksgiving!

What a Thanksgiving!?! Devin got in the spirit by sporting an outfit with a turkey on it.
Then when our dinner guest arrived, he took to hiding. But once we all sat down to eat, he enjoyed himself!
Devin is thankful for buttons, bath toys, his giraffe blanket, and his puppies. I'm sure he's thankful for his Daddy and me, but that wasn't in the list he gave me.

Dancing Machine

He starts out with bopping. Then twirling. Then he realizes he's being watched and he doesn't like it!

Coming AND Going

Devin always seems to have something in his hands, regardless of where he's going or what he's doing!

First Haircut

Before: After:
Devin was model client (for his mommy, that is). He let me shave almost everything before he started to complain a bit. It's not a perfect cut, but it doesn't diminish his cuteness one bit!

Pack Rat

Devin like hauling things around. And no one thing is any more or less important than another. Here he is with his popper, dog dish, noodle, and giraffe blanket.
